To the Cape Fear Emmaus Community,

The Cape Fear Board of Directors has approved the setting up of a Cape Fear Emmaus "Email Message Group" for the purpose of sharing Cape Fear Emmaus Community Information. This will be a closed Group, meaning that only members of the group can send messages to the group. We will be using the Yahoo Group system that Heart of Carolina Emmaus has used for about 5 years. Several of our Board Members subscribe to this HOC Group, and have categorically stated that they have received absolutely no spam or "chain letters" from this group (the members abide by the rules). They have almost 500 members of their group and send/receive about 10 emails a month.

Our Group is being set up for the sharing of Cape Fear Emmaus and member information, praises and concerns. We welcome event announcements, Community prayer needs & praises, etc. (any information that you want to receive general distribution throughout the Cape Fear Community). We obviously don't want spam, or forwarding devotions that members can independently subscribe to, or chain letters (God loves you but will get you if you don't forward this to all your friends) or anything related to "politics", just relevant Cape Fear (or member) information. Hopefully the group messages can go out without prescreening by a moderator, but if necessary this option could be implemented as well as the banning of abusers from the group (HOC has had no problems here and we expect none either).

There are two methods of joining this new Cape Fear Emmaus Group:
1) You may send an email to the Cape Fear Webservant (Jim Hix) at cfewebservant@suddenlink.net requesting that you be added to the group, or
2) you may join by sending an email to Yahoo at the following email address:
cfemmaus-subscribe@yahoogroups.com . Yahoo will then send you an email confirmation that must be returned to them for the signup to be complete (in case someone else is trying to sign you up).

The Board highly recommends the 1st method since the 2nd one was rather confusing to many Board members. Yahoo strongly suggests that you sign up for a Yahoo email account which is not necessary (after all, they are the ones hosting the group).
We would welcome your participation in this group as well as giving us advice about running/moderating it.

Your Brother in Christ,
Jim Hix - CFE Webservant ( cfewebservant@suddenlink.net )
